I’ve tried multiple tracking apps over the years, and this one is by far the best. I wish I discovered it sooner.
The food tracking process is the easiest I’ve ever used. I’ve found it to be intuitive with a pleasing and clear layout. It has an expansive library of foods without becoming overly cluttered. I love that the information is verified, as I’ve been discouraged in the past by sifting through user entered databases full of conflicting information. The bar code scanner is amazingly good, but you can also manually add your own foods and recipes. It has a space for notes too, which I very much appreciate, but I also enjoy that the interface is somewhat customizable so you can hide some aspects you don’t use or display what is more important to you.
It offers dietary recommendations and guidelines that are sound and free of gimmicks, which may be why it hasn’t garnered the same attention as some of its competitors. Although it gives you the flexibility to select from a few different plans or add your own, it’s clear that their recommendations are based in solid nutrition science. In that way this feels more like a nutrition app then a weight loss app, with health and sustainability as a clear focus. I particularly love the digital magazine it offers with recipes and nutrition centered articles.
There are a handful of features that I find less intuitive and the app does require a paid subscription like most apps of a similar scale and quality. It has a free week trial and is very consumer friendly in its business approach, something I’ve grown to appreciate in an era of apps that charge you before you can appreciate what you are really buying. I strongly recommend trialing the app for yourself. If your looking for a competent, well executed nutrition diary with a focus on health and substance over gimmicks and fads… this is it.
